Malian forces report significant losses inflicted on armed factions in northern operations
The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have disclosed that coordinated military operations in the northern regions of Anfif and Tabrachat resulted in the elimination of nearly 100 armed combatants from two militant groups. The announcement was made in an official statement issued on Thursday.
According to the army’s communiqué, the targeted groups included fighters from the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) and the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA). The operations involved 13 airstrikes, which not only neutralized the militants but also led to the destruction of six armored vehicles and a pickup truck.
The Malian military emphasized that these operations took place on Tuesday, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to dismantling armed factions across the country. Authorities highlighted the disciplined and resolute execution of these missions in partnership with allied forces, signaling an intensified crackdown on insurgent activities.
In a separate update on X, the Africa Corps reported additional successes, stating that their strikes had set ablaze multiple militant vehicles. The corps also confirmed that a drone under their command had successfully targeted a vehicle transporting ammunition and military equipment, further crippling the operational capacity of the armed groups.
The Russian Africa Corps described the operations as highly effective joint efforts with the Malian army against regional militants. They pledged to maintain pressure on these groups by continuing to strike their positions and destroy their logistical assets.
