Morocco and Gambia strengthen strategic ties as president Barrow sends key message to Rabat

Diplomatic relations between Morocco and The Gambia reached a new milestone of cooperation in Rabat on Thursday. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita held talks with his Gambian counterpart, Sering Modou Njie, who travelled to the Moroccan capital as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow.

The highlight of the visit was the handover of a personal message from the Gambian head of state addressed directly to King Mohammed VI, underscoring the close communication between the two leaders.

Explicit gratitude for Morocco’s socio-economic support

After the meeting, the Gambian top diplomat addressed the media to convey his government’s and people’s appreciation to the Alaouite monarch.

Njie praised Morocco’s unwavering support for The Gambia’s socio-economic development, emphasizing that this commitment is yielding tangible results through the signing of numerous bilateral agreements and the implementation of strategic projects already directly benefiting the population. These joint initiatives are closely coordinated under the strategic guidance of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad.

Shared vision for stronger regional cooperation

During his remarks, the Gambian minister affirmed his country’s firm determination to continue strengthening ties of cooperation in sectors of mutual interest.

He stated that current relations are not only excellent but are also built on solid values of brotherhood, solidarity, and mutual benefit, faithfully reflecting the forward-looking vision shared by King Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the well-being of both peoples. This bilateral roadmap for partnership and regional growth aligns directly with the diplomatic priorities of The Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad.
