CEPP : Ousmane Sonko hérite d’un nouveau poste de prestige

The Public Policy Evaluation Committee (CEPP) is specifically tasked with organizing, directing, and monitoring parliamentary assessments of public policies. Its core objective is to bolster the oversight of government actions and enhance the effectiveness of implemented policies.

The National Assembly has achieved a significant milestone in strengthening parliamentary scrutiny. On Friday, August 21, 2026, deputies convened for the inaugural meeting of the Public Policy Evaluation Committee (CEPP). This crucial session focused on the committee’s official establishment and the election of its executive board.

This formal launch marks a pivotal moment in Senegal’s parliamentary landscape. Envisioned since the constitutional reforms of 2016, the evaluation of public policies is now fully operational within the National Assembly. The CEPP’s primary mandate involves structuring, leading, and tracking parliamentary evaluations of public policies, thereby reinforcing the monitoring of public administration and ensuring greater efficacy in policy implementation.

Composition of the public policy evaluation committee

The committee comprises key parliamentary figures: the President of the National Assembly, the leaders of parliamentary groups, the representative for non-affiliated deputies, the chairs of the 14 permanent commissions, and nine additional deputies along with their alternates. These members are selected proportionally based on the administratively recognized parliamentary groups, with consideration for proposals from non-affiliated members.

Following its initial gathering, the CEPP’s Bureau was officially formed. Ousmane Sonko, who serves as the President of the National Assembly, will preside over the committee. He will be supported by Mohamed Sall as the first vice-president and Djimo Souaré as the second vice-president. Béatrice Germaine Faye has been appointed as the first secretary, while Adama Diallo assumes the role of second secretary.

Through the establishment of this committee, the National Assembly aims to provide tangible substance to the parliamentary evaluation of public policies, thereby solidifying its critical role in overseeing governmental activities.
