This Saturday, Ousmane Sonko convened a substantial gathering in Linguère, attracting a vast number of enthusiastic supporters of the Pastef leader. In a forceful address, Sonko spoke candidly, directing strong words towards the sitting President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who had removed him from his position as Prime Minister last May.
“Sénégal’s struggle was not for this”

In a particularly resonant moment, he declared with emphasis: “The people of Sénégal did not cast their votes for this outcome. They did not endure struggles for this. Lives were not sacrificed for this cause. Individuals did not face imprisonment for this. The people of Sénégal fought for a fundamental change in the system. Yet, today, that very system is entrenched within the presidential palace, continuing its operations.”

“Therefore, I maintain that he is free to align with any mayors or forge alliances with whatever parties he chooses. My focus, however, remains solely on the populace.
