Marche de Dakar : Ousmane Sonko accueilli par des centaines de partisans en liesse

Hundreds of ardent supporters warmly greeted Ousmane Sonko, the esteemed leader of the Pastef party and Prime Minister of Sénégal, during a significant public demonstration this Sunday, May 17. The event, dubbed a “grand walking tour,” was meticulously organized by the departmental coordination of his political movement in Dakar.

Donning a crisp white ensemble, the Prime Minister was met with an electrifying reception from the jubilant crowd. Chants of “Sonko Président” resonated through the air as he immersed himself in the enthusiastic throng. Prominent figures from the party also participated in the march, including Dakar’s Mayor, Abass Fall, and the Minister of Higher Education, Daouda Ngom. The procession commenced at the iconic Place de la Nation and was set to conclude at the Rond-point Jet d’eau.

The theme for this impactful public walk was “Dakar marching behind the Pros,” symbolizing widespread allegiance. Its objectives encompassed celebrating robust citizen engagement and advocating for peaceful collective action, alongside strengthening cohesion around the vision championed by Sonko. This mobilization also served as a crucial step in the party’s active preparations for its presidential elective congress scheduled for June 6, 2026.
