The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Mr. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, welcomed a delegation from the Inter-African Federation of Insurance Advisors (FIAC) led by its Acting President, Mr. Vakaramoko Samaké, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The meeting focused on the upcoming 16th Annual General Assembly of the Federation, scheduled to take place from June 10 to 13, 2026, in Ouagadougou.
The theme of this year’s assembly, “The role of insurance brokers in expanding access and boosting market penetration”, highlights the pivotal role of brokers in promoting financial inclusion. Nearly 200 insurance brokers from the 14 member countries of the Inter-African Conference of Insurance Markets (CIMA), along with representatives from Guinea Conakry and Ghana, are expected to attend the event.

During the audience, Mr. Samaké emphasized the importance of the brokers’ profession, stating, “We have demonstrated how insurance advisors contribute to the economic development of our nations and job creation. This assembly marks the beginning of a qualitative shift we aim to achieve. The theme of financial inclusion represents a fresh start for empowering our populations through insurance advisory services.”
The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Burkina Faso’s selection as the host city for the 16th edition of the assembly. He described it as “a gesture of solidarity” toward the nation.
He added, “We have chosen a path that invites criticism and negative stereotypes. Yet we remain steadfast because the country is advancing in every sector, as evidenced by macroeconomic indicators.”
Highlighting the relevance of the assembly’s theme, the Prime Minister underscored the government’s alignment with the agenda. “Your role is crucial. Today, insurance is indispensable across all sectors. Even in rural areas, climate insurance is now a topic of discussion. This proves that risks are evolving, and our people need at least a basic level of coverage.”
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to making insurance brokers a cornerstone of resilience, he concluded, “Rest assured of our readiness to collaborate and incorporate your recommendations. I urge you to unite and stay attuned to the demands of our time.”
This meeting underscores the government’s determination to position the insurance sector as a key driver of Burkina Faso’s economic rebuilding and resilience.
