psg champions league slip-ups mocked in cazarre’s show
The “Les Nuits du Cazarre enchaîné” show on RMC Sport took aim at the glaring errors made by commentators covering the Champions League final, where PSG triumphed over Arsenal in a penalty shootout.
When Paris Saint-Germain clinched victory over Arsenal in the Champions League final on May 30, the city—and the sports journalism world—paused to witness the historic moment. But Julien Cazarre’s humor-filled show didn’t just celebrate the win; it hilariously dissected the blunders of the commentators tasked with narrating the match.
Jean-Christophe Drouet, Cazarre’s co-host, took the lead in lampooning the commentators’ gaffes. The first casualty was a radio commentator from Ici Paris, who mistakenly referred to Kai Havertz—Arsenal’s opening scorer at the 6th minute—as Leandro Trossard, even mangling his name into “Tossard.” Not to be outdone, a commentator from RMC Sport (which also airs Cazarre’s show) confused Havertz with Declan Rice, the defensive midfielder. “Was the commentators’ booth literally in the stadium toilets?” Cazarre quipped, his signature wit on full display. Drouet chimed in, suggesting they “weren’t even watching the right match,” claiming they’d mistakenly followed Arsenal’s League Cup game against Ipswich.
Beyond player mix-ups, the show highlighted linguistic blunders, like the misuse of “faire le dos rond” (to brace for impact) as “faire le gros dos.” The hosts also ridiculed the overuse of the phrase “contre-pied parfait” (perfect backheel), a cliché commentators can’t seem to avoid. Cazarre and Drouet announced plans to extend their comedic crusade to the upcoming World Cup, inviting fans to join in by submitting their own commentator bloopers under the “Balance ton com’” initiative.
