An ongoing operation involving Russian mercenaries and elements of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) in the Bamingui-Bangoran region has reportedly taken an alarming turn. What was intended as a security deployment in the Ndele area has, according to accounts, transformed into widespread cattle rustling, directly impacting local herders.
The unexpected shift in the forces’ activities has raised serious concerns among the pastoral communities in Ndele. Instead of providing security, the operation is now associated with the systematic theft of livestock, a critical asset for the livelihoods of many families in the region. This development underscores a troubling deviation from the stated objectives of such deployments.
