Senegal learns can 2027 qualifiers group j opponents
The Senegalese national team has learned its challengers for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualification campaign. The reigning continental champions, known as the Lions, have been drawn into Group J, where they will face Mozambique, Sudan, and Ethiopia. Despite their status, the Lions will need to maintain sharp focus against these often formidable African sides.

Following the official draw conducted this Tuesday, Senegal’s route to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations is now clearly defined. The national squad finds itself positioned in Group J, preparing for encounters with Mozambique, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
As the current African champions, Senegal enters this qualification journey carrying the weight of expectation and a favorite’s tag within what appears, on paper, to be a manageable group. However, the squad, under the guidance of coach Pape Thiaw, must exercise caution. Their opponents are well-versed in continental football and frequently prove challenging, particularly when playing on their home turf.
The qualification schedule will unfold across several international breaks. The initial two matchdays are slated to take place between September 21 and October 6, 2026. Subsequently, the third and fourth fixtures are set for November 9 to 17, 2026. The group stage will then conclude with the fifth and sixth matchdays, scheduled from March 22 to 30, 2027.
