The President of Senegal’s National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the spiritual leader of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, who died on July 9, 2026.
In a statement shared on social media, Sonko expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the revered religious figure. He extended his deepest sympathies to the deceased’s family, the Grand Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the people of Senegal.
“I share in the nation’s grief upon learning of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké,” Sonko wrote. “His spiritual guidance and wisdom left an indelible mark on all who encountered him.”
The President recalled his personal interactions with the late Khalife during visits to Guinguinéo. “Each meeting was a source of warmth and inspiration. His kindness and hospitality touched many, including myself,” he reflected.
In this time of mourning, Sonko offered his sincerest condolences to the bereaved family, the Mouride community, and Senegalese citizens nationwide. “May God grant His mercy upon the departed and welcome him into eternal peace,” he prayed.
