The trial of Succès Masra commenced today in a high-security setting at the Supreme Court, yet the opposition leader remained absent. Local and international reporters were swiftly evacuated from the premises as tensions heightened around the proceedings.
A robust security perimeter was established, with law enforcement officers, gendarmerie units, and nomadic guards stationed at the roundabout and key roads leading to the court. The presiding judge engaged in direct discussions with Masra’s legal team, though the defendant himself was not present to face the allegations.
The absence of Succès Masra did not stall the proceedings, as his attorneys took the floor to present their client’s defense. The situation unfolded under a cloud of heightened surveillance, reflecting the gravity of the case and the political sensitivities at play.
