The diplomatic ballet continues in Lomé, confirming Togo’s central role in resolving crises on the continent. In an official mission to the Togolese capital, Congo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francophonie, and Congolese Affairs Abroad Constant-Serge Bounda was received by President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé in audience on July 9, 2026.
This high-level meeting fits into a regular line of consultations between Lomé and Brazzaville. Discussions primarily focused on prevention and resolution mechanisms for conflicts, as well as promoting stability in various African sub-regions.
An African Alliance Against Security Challenges
After the audience, the Congo’s diplomat highlighted the complicity and convergence of views that unite the two heads of state on major continental issues.
“Through their pan-africanist vocation, Mr. Denis Sassou N’Guesso and his brother, President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé regularly consult on crucial matters affecting our continent, including peace and security concerns. It is in this spirit that we were sent to Lomé to gather the President’s views on these issues,” said Constant-Serge Bounda.
