In the ongoing shadow of Boko Haram’s relentless threats, His Majesty Brahim Koromi Mahamat, paramount leader of the Boudouma Gouria I canton in the Lake Chad region, embarked this week on a critical grassroots awareness campaign across the communities under his jurisdiction. The tour was designed to foster direct engagement with residents in both island settlements and mainland areas, reinforcing the bond between leadership and the people.
The delegation accompanying the traditional ruler included respected elders, community leaders, and peace advocates, all united by a single urgent message: stand together, remain vigilant, and resist violent extremism as a collective force. At every stop, the emphasis was on unity, peaceful coexistence among diverse groups, and the preservation of social harmony. Participants were strongly encouraged to strengthen collaboration between civilians and security forces actively involved in counterterrorism operations within the province.
This proactive outreach took on added significance in a region frequently targeted by insurgent incursions and brutal terrorist attacks. The initiative underscores the traditional leadership’s refusal to yield to fear, division, or radicalization. By personally visiting communities, actively listening to their concerns, and promoting solidarity, His Majesty Brahim Koromi Mahamat demonstrates a steadfast commitment to collective resilience.
