Eight fatalities and one injury confirmed after Boko Haram assault on Cameroonian village
The remote village of Kangaleri, situated in Cameroon’s Far North region, became the latest target of a brutal night-time raid by suspected Boko Haram fighters. The attack, which unfolded just past 11:00 PM local time on Friday, left six people dead on the scene, while three others sustained life-threatening injuries. Tragically, two of the wounded succumbed to their injuries the following day, pushing the provisional death toll to eight. A ninth victim remains hospitalized under critical care as of Saturday.
The assailants struck under the cover of darkness, a tactic frequently employed by the militant group to maximize surprise and minimize resistance. Details regarding the precise sequence of events and the identities of the victims are still under investigation.

In a parallel incident reported the same night, another Boko Haram-linked assault occurred in Tourou, a settlement within the Mokolo district near the Nigerian border. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers looted livestock and personal belongings before setting fire to a local market adjacent to Tourou’s town center. Authorities have yet to release any casualty figures for this attack.
The Far North region of Cameroon continues to endure frequent incursions by Boko Haram operatives and splinter factions, despite sustained counterinsurgency efforts by Cameroonian armed forces and allied troops from the Multinational Joint Task Force operating across the Lake Chad basin.
