World Vision Chad Reveals Ambitious 2030 Roadmap for Child Welfare

World Vision Chad has introduced its groundbreaking 2026-2030 strategy, designed to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the nation. The comprehensive plan merges humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding initiatives to create lasting change.

A Strategic Vision for Chad’s Children

In a high-profile press event held in N’Djamena, World Vision Chad unveiled its 2026-2030 national strategy, drawing participation from media, technical partners, financial backers, and government officials. The initiative targets 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on 3.09 million of the most vulnerable through targeted interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.

The launch event took place at the N’Djamena Residence Hotel, marking a pivotal moment for the organization and the children it serves. Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for World Vision in West Africa, described the strategy as both bold and innovative, built on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This approach bridges emergency relief with long-term development and peace efforts, ensuring children in Chad can thrive in stable, nurturing environments.

Addressing Critical Challenges Through Integrated Solutions

Denizard emphasized that World Vision’s vision for West and Central Africa is to ensure every child not only survives but thrives, even in the most fragile contexts. The region faces formidable challenges, including widespread insecurity, deep-rooted poverty, climate change impacts, and mass displacement. To counter these issues, World Vision Chad’s strategy integrates humanitarian assistance with sustainable development and peacebuilding, aligning with continental and global priorities.

The strategy aligns with key frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. It prioritizes strengthening human capital, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and comprehensive child protection measures.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Chad, hailed the launch as a historic milestone. He noted that this strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to the previous cycle, with a clear goal: ensuring every child in Chad survives and flourishes. “Our mission is simple yet profound: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, with a focus on the most vulnerable,” he stated.

Prioritizing Health, Education, and Climate Resilience

Ngoy Wangoy highlighted Chad’s persistent struggles with poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate change. With nearly 42% of Chad’s population living below the poverty line, targeted interventions are essential. The 2026-2030 strategy focuses on:

• Integrated nutrition and health programs, with a strong emphasis on maternal and child health.
• Education enhancement through the Unlock Literacy initiative, fostering early reading skills.
• Child protection against all forms of violence.
• Community resilience-building to adapt to climate change impacts.

A Call for Collective Action

Following the strategy’s unveiling, World Vision Chad’s leadership issued a call to action, urging public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society, religious and community leaders, and media to collaborate. The organization stressed that collective mobilization is critical to turning current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children.
