World Vision Tchad’s Ambitious 2030 Roadmap Takes Shape

N’Djamena — World Vision Tchad has rolled out its groundbreaking 2026-2030 national strategy, setting an ambitious target to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The initiative, unveiled during a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, marks a significant leap in the organization’s commitment to addressing child welfare through an integrated approach combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts.

Child welfare at the core of a transformative vision

The strategy targets 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on 3.09 million of the most vulnerable young lives. World Vision Tchad’s leadership emphasizes a multi-dimensional approach targeting health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience. The framework is designed to bridge emergency relief with long-term development initiatives, ensuring no child is left behind in the country’s progress journey.

The regional director for World Vision in West Africa, Carla Dominique Denizard, described the strategy as “bold and visionary” during her address. She highlighted the organization’s commitment to the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a holistic approach that aligns emergency interventions with sustainable development and peacebuilding efforts. “Children in Tchad deserve more than survival—they deserve to thrive,” she stated, underscoring the importance of strong partnerships, community mobilization, and cultural integration in achieving these goals.

Denizard also pointed to the broader challenges facing the region, including insecurity, multidimensional poverty, climate change impacts, and mass population displacements. World Vision’s strategy responds to these crises by integrating humanitarian assistance with sustainable development and peacebuilding initiatives, aligning with continental and global frameworks such as the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16).

Strengthening foundations for a resilient future

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, hailed the launch as a “historic milestone” for both the organization and the children of Tchad. The new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear vision: to ensure every child in Tchad not only survives but thrives. “Our goal is simple yet audacious: to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable,” he explained.

Wangoy also drew attention to Tchad’s persistent challenges, including entrenched poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate change impacts. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, the need for intensified action to support the most vulnerable has never been more urgent. The strategy outlines several priority areas:

• Integrated health and nutrition: A renewed focus on maternal and child health to combat malnutrition and improve overall well-being.
• Education for all: Implementation of the Unlock Literacy program to enhance early reading skills and foster a culture of learning.
• Child protection: Strengthening safeguards against violence, exploitation, and abuse to ensure every child grows up in a safe environment.
• Climate resilience: Empowering communities to adapt to climate change impacts through sustainable practices and disaster preparedness.

The leadership of World Vision Tchad concluded the launch with a powerful call to action, urging all national stakeholders to join forces in realizing the strategy’s vision. Public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets were all invited to contribute to this transformative endeavor. The organization stressed that collective mobilization is essential to turning current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Tchad’s children.
