N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy, marking a pivotal moment in the organization’s commitment to transforming the lives of children across the country. The strategy was officially introduced during a high-profile press conference, bringing together journalists, development partners, financial backers, and national leaders at N’Djamena’s Résidence Hôtel.
Expanding reach and impact
The initiative sets a bold target: improving the lives of 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. This represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous plans, reflecting a deeper commitment to addressing the country’s most pressing challenges. The strategy integrates humanitarian aid with long-term development and peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that interventions are both immediate and sustainable.
A unified approach to child welfare
The strategy is built on the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, a framework designed to bridge emergency relief, sustainable growth, and conflict resolution. Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa, described the plan as “both bold and innovative.” She emphasized that it aligns with global and continental priorities, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. “Every child in Chad deserves not just to survive, but to thrive,” she stated, highlighting the need for strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity in implementation.
Focus areas and national priorities
World Vision Tchad’s strategy prioritizes five key areas:
- Nutrition and health: Strengthening maternal and child health services, with a focus on reducing malnutrition rates.
- Education: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to improve early reading and learning outcomes for children.
- Child protection: Intensifying efforts to shield children from violence, exploitation, and abuse.
- Climate resilience: Supporting communities in adapting to environmental challenges, including droughts and erratic rainfall.
- Social protection: Enhancing safety nets to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods.
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a “historic milestone” for the organization and the children of Chad. He acknowledged the country’s persistent challenges—persistent poverty, malnutrition, recurrent humanitarian crises, and climate shocks—while underscoring the need for collective action. “Nearly 42% of Chad’s population lives below the poverty line,” he noted, stressing that targeted interventions are essential to break the cycle of deprivation.
A call for unified action
Following the strategy’s unveiling, World Vision Tchad issued a rallying cry to all national stakeholders. The organization urged government authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society groups, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. Only through a united effort, they argued, can Chad’s current challenges be transformed into sustainable opportunities for its youngest citizens. The ultimate goal is clear: a future where every child in Chad is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
