World Vision Tchad’s Ambitious Plan for 2030: Transforming Lives of Millions
N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its groundbreaking 2026-2030 national strategy, marking a significant leap forward in its mission to uplift the lives of the country’s most vulnerable children. The comprehensive roadmap, launched during a high-level press conference in the capital, sets ambitious targets to reach 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most at-risk communities.
Combining Humanitarian Aid, Sustainable Development and Peacebuilding
The strategy hinges on an integrated approach that merges immediate humanitarian relief with long-term development initiatives and peace consolidation efforts. This multi-faceted framework aims to address the root causes of child vulnerability while creating sustainable pathways out of poverty and hardship.
Speaking at the launch, Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for West Africa, emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative. « This strategy is not just ambitious; it’s a lifeline for the children of Tchad, » she stated. « We are committed to ensuring every child not only survives but thrives in an environment of safety, health, and opportunity. »
Denizard highlighted the critical challenges facing the region, including widespread poverty, climate-induced crises, and ongoing humanitarian emergencies. « The Nexus Humanitaire-Développement-Paix approach is our blueprint for turning these challenges into opportunities, » she added, underscoring the importance of collaborative partnerships with local communities, religious leaders, and national authorities.
A Strategic Blueprint Aligned with Global and Continental Goals
The 2026-2030 strategy is meticulously designed to align with Tchad’s Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16). Key priorities include:
- Health and Nutrition: Strengthening maternal and child health services, combating malnutrition, and improving access to essential healthcare.
- Education: Expanding the Unlock Literacy program to enhance early reading skills and foster a culture of lifelong learning.
- Child Protection: Intensifying efforts to shield children from violence, exploitation, and abuse in all its forms.
- Climate Resilience: Empowering communities to adapt to climate change through sustainable practices and disaster preparedness.
- Social Protection: Building robust social safety nets to cushion the most vulnerable households from economic shocks.
Local Leadership and Collective Action
Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, described the launch as a « historic milestone » for the organization and the children it serves. « This strategy represents a 20% increase in our ambitions, reflecting our unwavering commitment to every child in Tchad, » he said. « We envision a future where no child is left behind, and every community is fortified to nurture its youngest members. »
With nearly 42% of Tchad’s population living below the poverty line, the need for such an initiative has never been more urgent. The strategy’s success, according to Wangoy, hinges on the collective efforts of government agencies, technical partners, financial backers, civil society organizations, and media outlets. « Together, we can transform today’s challenges into tomorrow’s triumphs, » he affirmed.
