Paris Saint-Germain anticipates a bustling summer in the transfer market. Following their impressive second consecutive UEFA Champions League triumph, the capital club aims to rejuvenate Luis Enrique’s squad. Among the promising talents linked with a move is Mateus Fernandes. However, Parisian officials might find themselves outmaneuvered by a formidable Premier League contender for the highly-rated Portuguese prospect.
The summer transfer window promises significant activity for Paris Saint-Germain. Having secured their second consecutive Champions League title, the club from the French capital is focused on revitalizing Luis Enrique’s roster. Numerous potential targets have surfaced in recent weeks, including the dynamic Mateus Fernandes. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to depart West Ham, following their relegation to the EFL Championship. Yet, it appears Manchester United could be poised to leapfrog PSG in the pursuit of the Portuguese prodigy.
Manchester United engages in discussions for Mateus Fernandes
Several clubs are reportedly keen on acquiring Mateus Fernandes’ services. We can confirm two critical details regarding his potential move. Firstly, Manchester United has initiated direct discussions with the player’s representatives, delving into the prospective transfer costs, encompassing both the fee and salary expectations. Secondly, the valuation set by West Ham is firm: they are demanding approximately €98M for Mateus Fernandes to leave this summer. While his departure is considered certain, given his caliber surpasses the Championship level, West Ham remains steadfast on their asking price.
Is Mateus Fernandes leaning towards a Manchester United move?
The ultimate decision regarding Mateus Fernandes‘ future now rests with the player himself. While PSG presents an appealing project, Manchester United has been actively pursuing the Portuguese international since the previous summer. Reports from the British media suggest that the West Ham midfielder would not be averse to joining the Red Devils this summer. Meanwhile, the current leaders of Ligue 1 have reportedly explored alternative targets in the transfer market, including players like Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig, Eli Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth, and Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco. The transfer window promises to be an intriguing period for the Parisian club.
