Bondoukou youth leaders encouraged to foster responsible political engagement

In Bondoukou, Alexis Adjoumani Kouadio, the departmental delegate for the National Youth Council of Côte d’Ivoire (CNJCI), recently urged youth leaders and community association heads to embrace a responsible approach to political engagement. This call came during a capacity-building workshop held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Regional Youth Directorate headquarters in this key locality.

The workshop, themed “Animating Associative Life and Youth Leaders Facing Politics: What Stance?”, aimed to cultivate a responsible youth population dedicated to peace and capable of upholding social cohesion, particularly within a sensitive sociopolitical climate.

“Organizations such as the CNJCI are established to operate in direct partnership with the administration. Every leader must understand their duties and present an exemplary attitude towards both the state and society,” stated Alexis Adjoumani Kouadio.

He further elaborated that youth organizations should consistently serve as platforms for civic guidance and essential collaborators with public administration in fostering civility, dialogue, and harmonious coexistence.

Adding to this, Kouacou Désiré, the regional director for the Ministry of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service for Gontougo, stressed the vital need to equip leaders who can effectively invigorate their respective associations while steadfastly maintaining neutrality amidst political tensions.

“Simply holding the title of association president is insufficient. It is crucial to breathe life into your organization, unite young people, and implement initiatives that genuinely contribute to the progress of our communities,” he affirmed.

He highlighted that this comprehensive workshop also sought to enhance the capabilities of associative stakeholders in areas such as responsible leadership, effective dialogue, organizational management, and strategies for preventing political manipulation within youth movements.

Gnaihi Hugues, representing the Gontougo regional prefect and the Bondoukou departmental prefect, commended the initiative, recognizing its significant contribution to positioning youth as a pivotal force for social stability and development.

“Our nation possesses an invaluable asset in its youth. They must be a driving force for social cohesion, peace, and active civic participation,” he declared, urging all attendees to fully absorb the insights shared during the various presentations.

The workshop featured several impactful sessions, including a presentation on animating associative life led by Jean Pierre Kouassi, a compelling testimony on associative engagement from Gla Serge, and a dynamic panel discussion on the appropriate stance for youth leaders in politics, guided by Pascal Kouamé.

The official introduction of the local CNJCI office also formed a significant part of this gathering, which drew numerous youth presidents from various neighborhoods and villages, alongside association officials, student representatives, and dedicated advocates for civility and community leadership across the Gontougo region.
