At 93, Biya remains the world’s oldest sitting head of state, re-elected in 2025 under controversial circumstances.
Since departing Yaoundé on June 7, the Cameroonian leader has been based in Geneva, Switzerland, reportedly on what was initially labeled a “private stay.” This marks the first time in his 44-year tenure that he has spent over 50 consecutive days abroad for non-official reasons. “Cameroon operates as if it’s running on its head.
