Chad tightens security at worship sites and public spaces for Tabaski

On May 25, 2026, Chad’s Public Security and Immigration Minister, General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, directed security forces to increase vigilance and strengthen protection at places of worship and public gathering spots ahead of Tabaski celebrations.

In an official notice, the minister ordered all relevant security services to implement strict security measures around mosques, churches, and other religious venues, as well as bustling markets, government buildings, and public squares. The directive emphasizes unwavering adherence to security protocols throughout the festive period.

Tabaski, also known as Aïd al-Adha, is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, marked by communal prayers, animal sacrifices, and large family and community gatherings. This season typically sees a surge in attendance at mosques and markets, making security a top priority.

The heightened security measures come at a time when regional security challenges persist. By reinforcing precautions, authorities aim to ensure the festivities proceed without disruptions or safety concerns.
