The nigerian army announced on sunday, june 7, the release of several hundred people taken captive months earlier by a faction of the jihadist group Boko Haram in Ngoshe, located in the northeastern state of Borno. In a video released by the military, frightened women and children are seen being transported at night in vans and pickup trucks, then gathered on the ground under trees, surrounded by soldiers. Estimates of the number of freed individuals range from 360 to nearly 420, depending on the source.
