Gabon economic forum returns for second edition focused on public-private dialogue

I want tomorrow’s FEG to be known not only for defending businesses, but above all for making them successful.

That hope was expressed by Alain Claude Kouakoua, president of the Federation of Enterprises of Gabon (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) held on Saturday, 27 June 2026 at the Palais des Congrès.

This gathering of international decision-makers and partners serves as a platform designed to address Gabon’s economic challenges.

Speaking pragmatically, the FEG leader noted that no nation has ever developed without strong companies. For him, the private sector is not a peripheral player but the very engine of growth.

Vice President of the Republic, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, also stressed the government’s commitment to supporting private enterprise: “The state will do its part to ensure that the cleanup of public finances allows what is due to private companies to be paid in a timely manner.

His speech was a strong pledge to “build a diversified economy, less dependent on raw materials and more focused on industrialisation.”

This forum thus marks a significant step in strengthening dialogue to achieve Gabon’s economic goals and objectives.
