Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League double falls short of record-breaking TV audience

France’s top football club couldn’t replicate last year’s historic TV triumph. PSG’s Champions League double against Arsenal drew 9.1 million viewers—well below the 11.5 million who tuned in for the 5-0 rout of Inter Milan.

Paris Saint-Germain’s back-to-back Champions League victory did not translate into record-breaking television ratings. While their 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan last season captivated 11.5 million viewers, Saturday’s showdown with Arsenal drew far fewer eyes—6.2 million on M6, peaking at 13.5 million during the late stages, and 2.9 million on Canal+. That’s over 2 million fewer viewers on free-to-air channels compared to 2025.

The dip in viewership can be traced to a scheduling clash with rising tennis star Moïse Kouamé’s third-round clash at Roland-Garros, which kicked off just before PSG’s final got underway.

Football fans faced a tough choice: stick with PSG or switch to Kouamé’s match on Suzanne-Lenglen Court. The 17-year-old phenom, clad in a PSG jersey, had already drawn 3 million viewers by the time the Champions League final began at 6 PM. Despite falling to Alejandro Tabilo in four tight sets (6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-7[9-11]), Kouamé kept his spirits high in the post-match press conference.

“I saw the penalties—the worst moment,” Kouamé joked, still smiling after his loss. “It’s a small consolation for a tough match.”
