The transfer saga surrounding highly sought-after Ivorian winger Yan Diomandé has intensified recently. Despite strong market interest, particularly from Liverpool, reports indicate Diomandé has reportedly opted to join Paris Saint-Germain. However, RB Leipzig is unequivocally pushing back against any potential move.

Following a stellar start to the World Cup, building on his impressive season with RB Leipzig, Yan Diomandé has become a prime target for top clubs. While he was previously a priority for Liverpool, recent developments suggest the Ivorian winger has chosen to align himself with PSG. Yet, this ambition faces a significant hurdle as Marcel Schäfer, the German club’s sporting director, has firmly dismissed any immediate transfer prospects for the Parisians.
Leipzig rejects PSG’s approach for Diomandé
“Our stance is crystal clear: Yan Diomandé will be playing for RB Leipzig next season. We will not compromise on this decision!” Schäfer asserted. “We are fully aware of his immense value. Certainly, if Yan maintains his current trajectory, a time will come for him to take the next step in his career, but that will not be this year. Fundamentally, he is under a four-year contract with us, and we retain full control. These current discussions primarily serve as recognition of his outstanding performances, nothing more, nothing less. If we don’t find a resolution that suits us, then so be it; he still has four years left on his contract. I reiterate: Yan Diomandé will remain an RB Leipzig player.”
Diomandé focused on World Cup amid transfer speculation
For his part, Yan Diomandé adopted a much more elusive tone when questioned about his future during a recent press conference. “You are informing me,” he responded. “I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. It’s my agent who handles discussions with the club; I have no information. I don’t want to talk about this, not even with my agent, because playing in a World Cup is a rare opportunity that comes every four years, and I need to seize it. My goal is to make history with my country and give my absolute best. My dream is to represent my nation. I’ve disconnected from social media; I can’t see anything. My agent will manage the rest. For me, the most crucial thing is to remain focused on the World Cup and achieve greatness.”
