Khalifa Sall’s fiery speech targets Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko
The event served as a platform for Khalifa Sall, leader of Taxawu Sénégal, to deliver a scathing critique of the government led by Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko. The former mayor of Dakar accused the ruling duo of prioritizing their own interests over the welfare of the Senegalese people, pointing to what he described as a web of hidden deals and backroom maneuvers at the highest levels of the state.
Opposition vows to dismantle the current regime
In a bold declaration, Khalifa Sall pledged that the opposition would not stand idle. « We are aware of their schemes, but we will remove them from power, » he declared, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. « The Senegalese people have never endured such hardship, » he added, framing the opposition’s mission as a fight for the nation’s future. His remarks signal a strategic push to consolidate opposition forces ahead of upcoming elections, with the goal of regaining control for the people.
A united front against unchecked power
The congress highlighted the growing momentum among Senegal’s opposition parties to challenge the status quo. By bringing together diverse political figures, Taxawu Sénégal is positioning itself as a formidable force capable of reshaping the country’s political landscape. The collective resolve expressed during the event reflects a shared determination to hold the government accountable and restore confidence in Senegal’s democratic institutions.
