The Senegalese women’s national football team is set to face off against Tunisia in the second round of the Olympic qualification tournament for the Los Angeles 2028 Games (LA28). This two-legged tie is scheduled for October 2026, following the draw held on April 29, which finalized the full schedule for the African Women’s Olympic Football Qualification Tournament running from June 1, 2026, to December 4, 2027.
This tournament will unfold across five rounds, featuring home-and-away matches. The opening round will exclusively involve the six lowest-ranked teams according to the FIFA rankings: Sudan vs Comoros, South Sudan vs Madagascar, and Mauritius vs Djibouti.
All other participating nations will join the competition in the second round, commencing in October 2026. Notable fixtures in this stage include Morocco—finalists of the recent Women’s Africa Cup of Nations—taking on Congo. The reigning African champions, Nigeria, who also competed at Paris 2024, could face Senegal in the third round, adding to the anticipation.
The Senegalese side will begin their journey against Tunisia in the second round. The victors of this match will then progress to face the winner of the Mali-Benin clash. Algeria’s path to Los Angeles kicks off with a match against the Central African Republic, while Zambia—participants in the Paris 2024 Olympics—must overcome Uganda and potentially Ghana to secure a third consecutive Olympic berth.
The stakes are high as teams battle for qualification, with the ultimate goal of securing a spot in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. The road to LA28 promises thrilling encounters and fierce competition across the African continent.
