Algeria and Niger deepen energy ties with Jet A1 and crude oil exports

The Algeria-Niger energy partnership has reached a new milestone, strengthening regional integration through strategic fuel and crude oil exchanges. This collaboration marks a significant step forward for economic cooperation between the two Sahel nations.

Under the agreement between Algeria’s Sonatrach and Niger’s Sonidep, the first official shipments of Jet A1 aviation fuel have been dispatched from the Adrar refinery (RA1D) to Niger. These deliveries formalize the long-term supply contract, ensuring a steady flow of essential petroleum products to meet Niger’s growing energy demands.

The initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to enhancing regional energy security by providing reliable fuel supplies to neighboring countries in the Sahel. These operations align with broader efforts to stabilize and develop energy markets in West Africa.

Joint crude oil exportation from Benin

Beyond fuel shipments, the partnership extends to the international commercialization of Niger’s crude oil. At the Sèmè terminal in Benin, Sonatrach and Sonidep jointly oversaw the loading of the first-ever cargo of Nigerien crude oil, branded as “Meleck.” This milestone highlights the expanding scope of their collaboration in global energy markets.
