“It will be assessed when the time comes. I think Pastef is a very structured, very organized party. It has texts, and these texts are very clear on the procedures to follow, on the grievances to put on the table to discuss the exclusion or not of someone. The party will assess. The party is not me, and it is the bodies that will assess when the time comes,” said Ousmane Sonko, clarifying that “we are not there yet.”
When asked whether he believes Diomaye has “betrayed” Pastef’s political project, Sonko stated he would not use that word. “Notions of betrayal belong much more to morality and emotion. I prefer to be on terrain linked to a much more political notion. I prefer to set the cursor at that level. Today I consider that the commitments we made to the Sénégalese people, for the most part, at least, some of these commitments are not respected and there is no will to respect them. After that, I am not on emotional ground. Betrayal, I leave that to morality,” he concluded.
