Psg targets two more russian talents after safonov transfer success

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has set its sights on two more Russian players following the successful acquisition of goalkeeper Matvey Safonov during the 2024 summer transfer window.

Safonov, who arrived from Krasnodar for a reported €20 million, has quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper, outperforming last season’s high-profile signing Lucas Chevalier. Unless an unforeseen injury occurs, Safonov will don the PSG jersey in the upcoming UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30, marking a significant milestone in his young career.

Campos explores russian market for reinforcements

Luis Campos, the club’s sporting director, has been impressed by Safonov’s impact and is now exploring opportunities to further strengthen the squad with Russian talent. Among the names under consideration is Aleksey Batrakov, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder from Lokomotiv Moscow. Batrakov has delivered an impressive 17 goals and 12 assists in 35 league appearances this season, catching the eye of PSG’s technical staff. Reports indicate that Campos may have already made a trip to Moscow to initiate discussions regarding a potential transfer.

« I have information suggesting that either Campos himself or one of his close collaborators will visit Moscow soon to engage primarily with the club, » revealed Vladimir Kuzmichev, Batrakov’s agent, in recent comments.

Kislyak emerges as another target for PSG

PSG’s interest in the Russian league extends beyond Batrakov. Matvey Kislyak, a 20-year-old midfielder from CSKA Moscow, is also on the club’s radar. Kislyak’s technical profile aligns closely with the playing style advocated by manager Luis Enrique. Additionally, his potential acquisition could serve as a strategic replacement should Lee Kang-in depart the club.

Kislyak, a 28-time league appearance holder for CSKA Moscow, has contributed six goals and six assists this season. His current contract runs until 2029, making him a long-term investment for any interested club.
